1. Do I have to pay the fee all at once?
No. A down payment is required when the contract is signed. The balance due can be paid at your pace. But MUST be paid in full by January 31st.
2. Do we have to participate in fundraisers?
No. Fundraisers are optional. The money your player makes goes directly to their account. Anything earned above the fee due is used by Midwest Jrs. No checks are written back to you.
3. How do I pay my player's fee?
We take cash, checks, and PayPal. Cash and checks can be brought to practice and given to coach or Kari. If you prefer to mail, please send to: Kari Patton 214 N Elm St Wellsville, KS 66092. Please include your player's name in memo of check. Make checks to: Midwest Jrs. Paypal is done through the website, click on Make Payments tab.
4. Is it okay to contact my player's coach if I have a question?
Yes. If you have any question about what is going on with your player contact the coach either by email or phone call. But NEVER discuss playing time at a tourney!
5. If my player needs to miss a practice should I contact someone?
Yes. If practice must be missed please contact your coach first. But if the coach can't be reached let Kari know. Coaches make up schedules for practice, if a player is missing it can mess up the whole practice. Please let your coach know in plenty of time that you cannot attend.
6. How do I know my player's practice times each week?
Practices are listed on this website under the Practices tab. If you have any questions about the practice time and location ask your coach. Most likely the practice dates/times are listed for the month but can change, so always check back weekly to see when your player's practice is.
7. Should I let my coach know if my player has conflicts on weekends?
Yes. Please let your coach know if you have any conflicts on weekends, this can help them in the dates that they choose for tourneys. And also for practices times. Practice times can be adjusted to work for players if needed.
8. How are tourneys picked for my player's team?
Coaches get a list of tourneys from the HOA website. They choose dates that work for their schedule, then ask if those dates work for your schedule. They always try to pick tourneys that work for every player on the team. But sometimes that is not always possible, there are only so many tourneys to choose from. The tourney picks need to be done first part of December.
9. When do the tournaments begin and when does the season end?
Tournaments will start in January and end in April for most teams. Some teams are done early March.
10. Who decides if my player's team plays Premier or Select?
The coach will be the one to decide if the team should compete Gold or Silver level. After seeing the team together for a few practices the coach will decide what level is best for the group of girls.
11. How much travel is there for tournaments?
Coaches try to pick tourneys that are close to the KC area. Sometimes that is not always possible and an overnight stay may be required. Gold level teams are encouraged to do the out of town 2 day tourney.
12. Does the numbers on my daughter's team matter? (exp 14-1 or 14-2)
No, teams are not determined gold or silver by the numbers listed. It is up to coaches to decide to play gold or silver level. Numbers are assigned to teams when they are registered with the HOA. So if we have three 14's teams: 14-1. 14-2, and 14-3. 14-1 may be a silver and 14-2 may be gold and 14-3 could be sliver. Numbers really don't mean a level of play.
